Event description

The Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein at NC State University is hosting its inaugural summit on October 16–17, 2025, bringing together the brightest minds in science, policy, and industry to advance the future of sustainable protein.

This two-day event will feature exciting keynote talks, interactive panels, and breakout sessions highlighting breakthroughs in biomanufacturing, alternative proteins, and sustainable food systems.

GFI’s Maddie Cohen, J.D., associate director of regulatory affairs, will join the Policy & Regulations panel alongside Deepti Kulkarni (Covington & Burling) and Jo Anne Shatkin (Vireo Advisors), with moderation by Norbert Wilson (Duke University). Together, they will explore the current state of cultivated meat regulation, highlight both challenges and opportunities, and discuss how thoughtful, science-based policy can guide this emerging sector toward a more sustainable future.

It’s a conversation designed to be both insightful and practical—an invitation to see how today’s regulatory choices can shape tomorrow’s food system.
