NYC Climate Week: Climate finance for sustainable proteins
Event description
Climate finance has spent decades developing tools—from green bonds and blended finance to first-loss guarantees—that can help move institutional capital toward technologies and projects once considered too early, risky, or illiquid. Sustainable proteins face many of those same financing challenges today.
During NYC Climate Week, the Good Food Institute, Food System Innovations, and Climate Bonds Initiative will bring together climate finance experts, institutional investors, development finance institutions, corporate offtakers, and innovative suppliers to explore how proven financing mechanisms could be adapted for sustainable proteins.
The working session will begin with four rapid case studies highlighting specific financing approaches. Participants will then break into small groups to examine where each mechanism fits, what would need to change for sustainable proteins, and what other tools could help address key investment risks.
Come ready to share expertise, test ideas, and help identify practical pathways for bringing more institutional capital into sustainable protein infrastructure and scale-up.
Space is limited, and participation requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
