MANRRS39 brings together students and professionals in agriculture, food, natural resources, and related sciences to collaborate, network, and advance their careers. The conference features industry leaders, small-group breakout sessions, workshops, a career expo, and opportunities to refine professional skills.

Asia Sheehab will lead a session on the role of alternative proteins in shaping the future of food. The discussion will cover the environmental, health, and scalability benefits of alternative proteins, the challenges of production, and their impact on agriculture.

Whether you are interested in sustainability, innovation, or entrepreneurship, this session will provide insights into how alternative proteins can address global food security and climate challenges.

Asia Sheehab

ACADEMIC COMMUNITY SPECIALIST

Asia Sheehab works with GFI’s university innovation team to support The Alt Protein Project. She empowers and mentors student groups around the world to transform universities into hubs for alternative protein research, education, and innovation.

Asia has a background in program coordination, food systems, nutrition research, and community-building. Prior to joining GFI, she facilitated clinical nutrition research studies focused on protein consumption and muscle health at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center. She has also worked with organizations like the Blue Zones Project and The Humane League to engage academic and local communities.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Simmons University and a master’s degree in nutrition science and food policy from Tufts University. Asia is passionate about science communication and brings a strong interest in equitable food systems, animal welfare, and sustainability to her work at GFI.
