Event description

Hosted by the California Assembly Select Committee on Alternative Protein Innovation, this informational hearing will spotlight how alternative proteins are transforming the state’s food and agriculture economy—from sidestream valorization to regional job creation.

Held at UC Davis, the hearing will convene scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers, and policy leaders to explore:

  • How AP companies leverage California’s specialty crops and agricultural sidestreams
  • Opportunities for farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses to join emerging AP supply chains
  • Regional job creation, rural economic development, and climate-smart farming practices
  • Water and land use savings supported by California-specific life cycle assessment data
  • The role of universities, public funding, and regional tech clusters in AP R&D and innovation

Panelists will include experts from UCANR, Beam Circular, iCAMP, and Blue Diamond Growers.

The hearing will be available on the home page of the California State Assembly. When it is active the hearing will load on to the home page and is found by scrolling down. It will be very prominent.
