World Food Forum 2026: Protein diversification for the Global South
Event description
Join GFI and the Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein for a World Food Forum workshop exploring the role of protein diversification in building stronger, more resilient food systems across the Global South.
The session will bring together perspectives from the World Health Organization, the World Bank, India, Brazil, and young researchers participating in the World Food Forum’s Transformative Research Challenge. Through an expert panel and research roundtable, participants will explore how protein diversification can strengthen agricultural value chains, create opportunities for livelihoods, and contribute to food and nutrition security.
The workshop will also spotlight the growing momentum behind protein diversification across research, policy, and international institutions, including a new partnership between GFI and WHO.
Join us in Rome to connect with researchers, policymakers, and food-system leaders working to turn that momentum into practical action.
