Anand Gopal

Dr. Anand R. Gopal is the Founder and CEO of EA Global, an energy, food, and climate strategy consulting firm. Anand has advanced U.S. and international solutions to scale clean energy for almost two decades.

From 2021 to 2025, he was the Executive Director, Policy Research at Energy Innovation, a non-partisan clean energy policy thinktank, where he led the firm’s research and policy analysis. During his tenure, Energy Innovation played a pivotal role in advancing large-scale clean energy policies in the U.S., China, and Europe.

From 2018 to 2021, he was a program officer in the Environment Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. In this role, Anand managed the program’s global strategic grantmaking on clean power, transportation, and India.

Prior to the Hewlett Foundation, Anand was a research scientist in clean energy and transportation at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where he led LBNL’s global research on energy policy solutions for climate mitigation.

He serves on the Board of many influential organizations including the International Council on Clean Transportation, the Good Food Institute, and Veloz. He is a regular contributing author on the energy transition at Forbes.

He holds a Ph.D. in energy and resources from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in environmental systems engineering from Humboldt State University, and a B.S. in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
