Job description

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is an international network of nonprofit think tanks working to unlock the knowledge and resources needed to transform how meat is made, satisfying rising food demand in ways that accelerate climate progress, protect animals and ecosystems, and strengthen public health. Alongside scientists, businesses, and policymakers, and powered by philanthropy, GFI’s teams focus on making plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated proteins delicious, affordable, and accessible.

Headquartered in Singapore as a registered charity, the Good Food Institute APAC’s scope spans alternative protein innovation hubs across the Asia Pacific region, with particular emphasis on Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea.

How you will make a difference

As part of GFI APAC’s three-person Communications team, you will help shape how key audiences across the private sector, public sector, and academia perceive and engage with the alternative protein industry. Working closely with our Head of Communications and Senior Writer, you will support the execution of GFI APAC’s communications strategy, coordinating content development and targeted outreach that strengthen our reputation and influence as a regional thought leader.

Your work will help GFI APAC more effectively reach and engage scientists, policymakers, investors, and companies online and in-person, inspiring and empowering them to accelerate alternative protein progress across Asia Pacific.

Key responsibilities

  • Content development
    • Develop engaging written content for our LinkedIn page, e-newsletter, website, and external presentations, ensuring alignment with our communications objectives, target audiences, key messages, and tone of voice
    • Assist in creating visual content that complements written materials, including but not limited to infographics, carousels, slideshows, and short videos
    • Help to translate complex technical information (including from scientific reports, policy whitepapers, and other research studies) into relevant, accessible, and impactful key messages for a range of stakeholders
    • Actively identify opportunities to repurpose existing content from GFI APAC and GFI’s global affiliates throughout the year
  • Content distribution and channel management
    • Manage GFI APAC’s LinkedIn content calendar, scheduling and publishing posts to consistently engage our range of target audiences year-round
    • Build and disseminate e-newsletters based on written material developed by our Senior Writer
    • Help identify new, unexplored communications tactics and touchpoints—including social platforms, publications, podcasts, or events—that can enable us to more effectively reach our target audiences
  • Monitoring and analytics
    • Gather performance data for our LinkedIn, website, and e-newsletter content, identifying trends and sharing recommendations to improve future communications
    • Regularly monitor LinkedIn, media coverage, and our GFI APAC inbox for relevant opportunities to amplify content relevant to our target audiences
    • Support efforts to monitor and mitigate potential reputational risks to the alternative protein sector
  • Coordination and collaboration
    • Coordinate with freelancers, graphic designers, and other external vendors to ensure timely, on-brief, and on-brand delivery of communications projects
    • Collaborate with GFI APAC subject matter experts in our Scitech, Corporate Engagement, Policy, and Development teams to review and refine communications materials
    • Provide promotional and logistical support for on-ground events and online webinars

  • Demonstrated ability to produce on-brand, audience-specific content across formats and platforms
  • A visual eye and understanding of brand identity, with the confidence to make creative decisions during content production
  • An interest in data and a desire to analyse, not just develop, communications outputs
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects involving diverse stakeholders simultaneously
  • Cultural sensitivity and an awareness of APAC’s diverse cultural (and digital) landscape
