Ways to give
However you choose to give, your support makes GFI’s work possible. Explore the options below to find the giving method that best fits your philanthropic goals.
Why give to GFI
Philanthropy gives GFI’s global teams the flexibility to respond to new challenges and opportunities for alternative proteins. Your support funds open-access research, supports students and researchers, helps educate policymakers, and equips the alternative protein ecosystem with free resources and opportunities for collaboration.
With 98% of our funding coming from individuals and foundations, your generosity is the engine behind all we do.

Give with your donor-advised fund
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a simple way to set aside money for charitable giving. You contribute to the fund, may be eligible for a tax deduction at that time, and can recommend grants to nonprofits like GFI whenever you’re ready. It offers a flexible way to plan your giving and support the causes you care about over time.

Grant from your DAF to GFI
The organization that manages your DAF may have different rules for contributions, investments, grants, fees, and other requirements, so be sure to check with your provider or financial advisor for details. GFI does not provide tax advice, and we encourage you to consult a tax professional with any questions about your individual circumstances.
Recommend a grant via your DAF 🌱
Choose your donor-advised fund provider, search by EIN, and recommend a gift to the Good Food Institute.
If your provider isn’t listed, please log in to your DAF portal and share our legal name, address, and EIN with them:
Benefits for you:
- Retain flexibility to recommend grants to the causes you care about, whenever you choose
- Simplify your giving by managing your charitable contributions in one place
- Maximize your giving through potential tax advantages and tax-free investment growth
Benefits for GFI:
- More consistent support through repeat or recurring DAF grants
- Greater flexibility to respond when timely funding opportunities arise
- Simpler non-cash giving because DAF providers manage the assets before GFI receives the grant
