About
For over 80 years, the University of São Paulo (USP) has excelled in education and research, generating over 20% of Brazil’s scientific output through numerous research centers and international collaborations. Beyond academia, USP has a rich community driven by cultural and social initiatives.
Our team at USP Alt Protein Project boasts a strong and diverse research background, including in cell reprogramming and lineages for different medical and biotechnological purposes (e.g. iPSC for cultivated meat production). In collaboration with GFI, our student group aims to build the alternative protein ecosystem at our university and beyond.
At USP, the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Food Engineering offer degrees in Animal Science, Food Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Biosystems Engineering, excelling in a wide array of research fields and industrial expertise that are highly applicable to alternative protein science. The USP Alt Protein Project team includes experts from a wide variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to veterinary medicine, biology, and food engineering.
