About
The Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) is an educational institution pioneer in promoting the development of alternative proteins in Brazil. Teaching, research, and extension activities are currently being conducted by professors, researchers and students at the university.
The UFPR Alt Protein Project aims to further strengthen these initiatives and grow them to a larger scale, bringing more national and global visibility while increasing the scope of strategies used. We foster an ever-growing community of students and disseminate accessible information to the general public to grow greater public awareness.
The UFPR Alt Protein Project believes in contributing to the acceleration of alternative proteins along with the constant pursuit of including all stakeholders in the research and production chain, including conventional producers of animal products. Our motto is to leave no one behind.
The study area of alternative proteins within the university is greatly guided by research on animal welfare, a well-established field within the institution. Therefore, the UFPR Alt Protein Project considers it essential to take into account the interests of animals involved in both conventional and alternative protein production chains, considering animal welfare and ethics alongside scientific innovation.
