The Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) Alt Protein Project is made up of a team of biotechnology enthusiasts and dreamers focused on creating a more sustainable food production system. Our university is based in Minas Gerais, a state that is home to many industries, enterprises, and thus job opportunities.
UFMG is considered one of the best federal universities in Brazil and is a nationally-respected hub of technology, innovation, and scientific knowledge. In collaboration with Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), UFMG researchers have received GFI funding to conduct a project titled “Hybrid structure scaffold to enable the production of three-dimensional chicken muscle tissue with fat for clean meat”, led by João Paulo Ferreira Santos.
As regional leaders of the alternative protein field, the UFMG Alt Protein Project intends to expand its network within the university and beyond its borders as well.
