The UFMG Alt Protein Project

About

The Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) Alt Protein Project is made up of a team of biotechnology enthusiasts, focused on creating a more sustainable food production system. Our university is based in Minas Gerais, a state that is not only home to Pão de Queijo (you should try the vegan version of it!), but also many industries, innovation enterprises, and thus job opportunities!

UFMG is considered one of the best federal universities in Brazil and is a nationally-respected hub of technology, innovation, and scientific knowledge. Scientists at UFMG were responsible for frying the first cultured chicken in Brazil and those students were the founders of this Chapter!

The UFMG Alt Protein Project aims to expand the notion of cultured meat throughout the university. We have created the course: “Cellular Agriculture: Cultivated Meat” for undergrad students and a subgroup called The UFMG Alt Protein Project at Elementary School, giving funny lectures and joyful activities for young minds!
