About

We are the UChicago Alt Protein Project, a group of students passionate about alternative proteins and the future of food. Together, we share the dream of a global food system that’s better for the planet, people, and animals.

We create student-led research projects in campus labs to contribute academic publications to the cutting edge of the industry while equipping students with valuable lab skills. We also teach fellowships for those interested in the technical, environmental, economic, and policy sides of the alternative proteins industry and help them find jobs and internships. Finally, we host an array of community events to generate excitement about the industry, from barbecues on the quad to game show nights.
