About
We are the Tufts University Alt Protein Project: a group of passionate students working to advance the alternative protein field. We work hand-in-hand with the Cellular Agriculture branch of the Kaplan Lab, where we receive mentorship from the newest up-and-coming scientists and engineers in the alternative protein space. The members of our mentorship board have produced some of the most foundational and groundbreaking publications in the field, and our group mentor, Dr. David Kaplan, has pioneered this field in recent years. We strive to build on the existing foundations here at Tufts to create an even more inclusive, even more expansive, and even more comprehensive community of alt-protein enthusiasts across all departments.
Tufts is located in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the shining biotechnology hubs of the United States. As the sole Alt Protein Project in the greater Boston area, housed at one of the leading academic institutions for cellular agriculture research, we hope to build a robust community of students, researchers, and other key stakeholders in the region.
