About
The Sathyabama Smart Protein Project is a student-led initiative focused on promoting awareness of sustainable and alternative protein sources within the alternative protein ecosystem for a better future.
Guided by our faculty mentor, Dr. Karthick Velu, we encourage scientific research by fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and supporting the development of future talent in the smart protein ecosystem through research, innovation, and societal outreach. Some of our research activities include developing edible scaffolds, marine faunal cell lines, and researching alternatives to FBS for sustainable cell culture applications.
Our activities are supported by faculty members such as Dr. D. Inbakandan and Dr. V. Ramesh Kumar, along with the leadership team at Sathyabama, including Prof. Dr. B. Sheela Rani, Vice Chancellor.
GFI India’s visit to Sathyabama’s dedicated Cellular Agriculture Lab at National Facility for Coastal and Marine Research (NFCMR), Centre for Ocean Research as a part of talent-building in the smart protein sector.
