About
The Manchester Alt Protein Project unites the broad range of expertise among the University of Manchester’s large student population towards the goal of a better and more sustainable food system. We set out to show that everyone has talents that can be wielded towards this goal and to create a place to foster this. Our university has a legacy of strong research in biology and material science, including being responsible for the discovery of graphene. We have professors who have worked on scaffolds, leather grown from cell agriculture and the sustainable transition of the food system.
