About
The Alt Protein Project at Virginia Tech strives to bring together diverse expertise by building an inspiring community of students and faculty. We are looking to enrich, support, and cultivate research and innovation to create a healthy, sustainable, and just food system. Virginia Tech is home to 12 agricultural research and extension centers, making it one of the leading agricultural programs in the nation and a leader in learning, discovery, and engagement.
Our community is guided by our motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve). We serve as a space for individuals to learn about plant-based, fermentation-based, and cultivated proteins by connecting with industry leaders and academic professionals to help build careers in the alternative protein field. We plan to foster an inclusive environment of creativity to create a thriving community passionate about local and global change. The Alt Protein Project at Virginia Tech ultimately hopes to transform the future of food by generating awareness and excitement for expanding the knowledge and research of food technology.
