We are looking for a Head of Finance based in Singapore or Hong Kong to support our Operations Team.

How you will make a difference

GFI APAC’s Operations Team manages finance, human resources, and legal compliance for the regions where GFI APAC operates, and provides administrative support to our programmatic experts who work in SciTech, Policy, Corporate Engagement, and Communications. In collaboration with our Associate Director of Operations, you will have the opportunity to strengthen our finance operations structure for both our entities in Singapore and Hong Kong.

We are looking for a proven leader who will:

  • Manage the full set of finances in Singapore and support Hong Kong’s operations.
  • Ensure strong finance oversight practices, internal control management practices, and systems, including banking and expense reimbursement, annual budgeting, cyclical forecasting, and tax return oversight.
  • Lead various auditing processes, including annual financial audits, internal control audits, and grants audits, for both Singapore and Hong Kong entities with support from the Associate Director of Operations.
  • Strengthen GFI APAC’s financial systems (e.g. finance policy review, improving workflow and organisation in Xero), and ensure accurate financial provisions for all legal and compliance requirements, including OFS for charity submission.
  • Represent GFI APAC in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) migration project. Be responsible for integration solutions and resource allocation for the project in coordination with the global Finance Team and with support from the Associate Director of Operations. 
  • Manage the tracking and monitoring of all donations and public funding, and implement the digital trace in Salesforce in coordination with the global Fundraising Team.
  • Compile finance inputs to support the Fundraising Team’s donor proposals, periodic reports, and any grant applications. 
  • Lead claims administration and processes for all grant programs. 
  • Support the management and Board committees to create, evaluate, and recalibrate financial objectives and key results that align with the local statutes and global developments. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Who we’re looking for

The Head of Finance must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in accounting and/or audit qualification with prior experience in financial management and internal controls, and budgeting.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to cultivate an environment of professionalism, efficiency, responsiveness, and creative problem-solving. 
  • Strong organisational skills, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly
  • Strong commitment to following ethical business practices, and ability to develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risks.
  • In-depth knowledge of regional and local tax regulations and compliance preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Xero is a must. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning System Salesforce and Asana will be advantageous.
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in Mandarin will be advantageous. 
  • Experience in a charity organisation will be highly preferred. 
  • Strong support for GFI APAC’s mission.

The fine print

  • Terms of Employment: Full time 
  • Reports to: Associate Director of Operations
  • Location: Singapore or Hong Kong
  • Salary: Annual salary between SG$85K-110K (or HKD equivalent) based on qualifications and experience
