After screening different aquatic organisms\, the Kaplan Lab at Tufts University successfully isolated satellite cells from mackerel (Scomber scombrus). Characterization is underway\, as proof of satellite cell stemness\, myogenic differentiation efficiency\, and transdifferentiation into adipocyte-like cells have all been demonstrated.
