SUMMARY:The Science of Alt Protein: Computational modeling workflows for cultivated meat yield prediction
DESCRIPTION:The Science of Alt Protein: Computational modeling workflows for cultivated meat yield predictionPast\n\n\n\n\nJoin us to learn about cutting-edge computational workflows to efficiently predict yield limits in cultivated meat production. \n\n\n\n	Share this page on Facebook\n	\n	Share on Facebook\n\n\n	Share this page on Twitter\n	\n	Share on X\n\n\n	Share this page on LinkedIn\n	\n	Share on LinkedIn\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent speaker\n\n\n\nDr. Simon Hubbard\, MIMechELead Engineer and Owner\,Upstream Applied Science Ltd. \n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\nWebinar description\n\n\n\nThere are a number of factors that affect the yield of cultivated meat production in bioreactors\, including mass transfer\, mixing\, hydrodynamic stress\, and metabolite concentrations. In this work\, computational workflows are being developed to efficiently predict the yield limits of each of these factors. One workflow builds on existing techno-economic analysis models by adding computational fluid dynamics and Bayesian optimization to provide predictions of optimum mass transfer\, mixing\, and hydrodynamic stress bioreactor performance. A second adds genome-scale metabolic modeling to predict cell growth response to metabolite concentrations. This presentation describes these workflows\, detailing progress thus far and the need for further specific developments. \n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the speaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Simon Hubbard\, MIMechE\n\n\n\nLEAD ENGINEER AND OWNER\, UPSTREAM APPLIED SCIENCE LTD. \n\n\n\nSimon has been running his solo consulting business for almost four years\, focusing primarily on the development and application of computational models in the cellular agriculture space. Prior to starting Upstream Applied Science\, Simon spent time in the motorsport\, high-tech product development\, and technology consulting sectors. He has broad experience in computational simulation and mathematical modeling\, with a focus on fluid dynamics simulation tools and applications. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUpcoming events\n\n\n\nView all events\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n November 12\, 2026\n \n Virtual Event\n \n \n \n The Science of Alt Protein: Genome-scale modeling of porcine cell metabolism\n \n \n \n Explore how a GFI-funded genome-scale metabolic model can reveal porcine cell nutrient requirements and inform lower-cost culture media for cultivated…
